Birth of a Wise Man...

Birth of a wise man

So was I told when I was born,
He was getting ready for a computer exam
Far from home in the land they call bongo
A call to him was sent, a baby boy you’ve had!

But no, that is naught the cause of this monologue
From that day I became this man’s son…
I grew up knowing he was the strongest man alive,
The way he lifted me and threw me to the sky?
Boy…coming down I always had that flash second thought that I might fall to the ground
But just as it came, the flash of a second assurance came...c’mon am with my dad!

When I could walk, he took me to the farm
I had my own farm ( ) this wide...it looked big then
He taught me to plough and plant and water and wait
I was so impatient when the seeds didn’t come up
But that’s when he taught me the great man’s virtue of patience!

He took me to my first bike ride
When I was old enough He took us to a ride all the way to Chekereni
And back!
He taught me my first basketball lesson…the dribbling and passing
I wasn’t much interested ...I loved using my legs more
And guess it, he knew that too!!!
My dad knows eeeeeeevrything…!

He taught us how to cook
When I was in class six we had two house helps
He sent them away and had us learn all house chores
Boy do I know how to make the most delicious of delicacies!!!!!

I always thought to myself…
When I grow up I want to be like my father,

God fearing,
Caring to his children,
Loving to his wife,

I mean he can be anyone you want him to be…Michael Jordan, Roberto carlos,
The chief chef, a plumber, mechanic, carpenter, Russell peters, Enrique Igleas..
You name it!

And so on this day, fifty what years ago, he was born,
And in the words of his favorite song:

“I do not know how many days
of life are mine to spend;
but One who knows and cares for me
will keep me to the end:”

And in that same faith dad...may the good Lord keep you in good health, and sound mind
That you may enjoy the goodness of this world and may He grant you long life that you may come to see your sons’ sons.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD....I LOVE YOU!
